Two card skimmers were discovered at Big Y stores in Milford and Stratford, one on October 29th and another on November 1st. The grocery chain is investigating the incidents and working with law enforcement. Customers potentially impacted will be notified and advised on how to protect themselves.
Dr. Vahid Behzaden, a cybersecurity expert at the University of New Haven, warned that skimmers can vary in design, from simple overlays to more sophisticated devices with hidden cameras. He advised shoppers to check for loose or unusual card slots and consider using tap-to-pay options to stay safe during holiday shopping.
