Shoppers in Connecticut were left facing empty shelves at a well-known grocery chain after a recent cybersecurity breach affected its payment processing systems. The disruption, which left stores unable to complete transactions, is part of a growing trend of cyberattacks targeting payment infrastructure across various industries. Vahid Behzadan, assistant professor of cybersecurity at the University of Connecticut and director of the SAIL Lab, emphasized that such attacks are becoming more frequent, severely disrupting business operations and highlighting the increasing vulnerabilities in digital payment systems.
